Robert Stevenson

Over ten years of experience shoeing some of the countries top equine athletes across a range of disciplines. I have developed a high standard of Farrier services. My horsemanship skills developed over my lifetime have also been enhanced and my horse handling ability is of a very high standard. My understanding of the equine lower limb and hoof capsule has also been advanced and has allowed me to treat and effectively improve a range of hoof problems as well as maintain horses at high level performance sports.

1994-1996 

  • Stockman for Heystbury Pastoral Company

  • Stock work, horse breaking

  • Further developed horsemanship skills from a lifetime of living in rural Australia, working on cattle properties

1997

  • Completed a rural Scholarship to train as a Farrier at the Kentucky Horse School Kentucky USA

1998

  • Returned to Australia, commenced work for Farrier Richard Hansen in Samford Queensland,

  • Shoeing many different types of horses including: endurance Arabians, dressage, cutting, western pleasure and show Arabians

1999-2005

  • Commenced own business shoeing for various trainers including: Washpool Lodge: (Thoroughbreds, pre-training, breaking in, breeding)

  • Washpool's clients included Ingham's Thoroughbred racing, Peter Moody Thoroughbred Racing, Kelly Swede and Langbecker's Show Jumping Team

  • Wadham Park Racetree Stud (thoroughbred breeding, trimming and shoeing mares, foals, yearlings)

  • Peter and Di Jenkyn (Grand Prix and Olympic Level Dressage Horses)

  • Jan Tyrell (Endurance Horses)

  • Jonathan Dudley (Cutting Horses)

  • Worked with Keith Swan at the Oakey Veterinary Hospital

2001

  • Commenced work with Dr Julian Wilmore on Diagnostic Hoof Program

  • Using Digital photography and computer software we are able to accurately measure changes, diagnose and treat problems in the hoof capsule and bony column of horses

  • We have used this technology to track and accurately record changes and improvements in horses of all ages

  • It also allows me to liaise with other experienced veterinarians and farriers to ensure a comprehensive and accurate diagnosis and treatment of equine hoof and lower limb complications

  • My support team includes Wayne Bowman an experienced and highly reputable Farrier and Dr. Julian Wilmore, an Equine Federation of Australia (EFA) and Olympic Vet

2003

  • Created Equine Shopping Centre - Largest range of Australian Equine products online

  • Experience in sales, consulting with suppliers, customer service, marketing, online sales and marketing, business management, staff management

2004

  • Created Equine branded clothing line with Driza-bone Australia

  • Logistics management, market research, sales and marketing, customized clothing lines, retail and wholesale sales management

2006

  • Commenced work on Emirates Stud Farm

  • Specialized in foal podiatry, liaising with stud managers and veterinarians to determine and implement a professional treatment plan based on latest research and best care practice

2007

  • Commenced work at Millennium and Zabeel Stable , this was a very successful year as we took out the leading Trainer and Owner Title for the season.

2008 - 2009

  • Worked with several international Trainers including Luca Cumani, with six Carnival wins and many placings

  • As well as Presvis going on to win the QEII Cup in Hong Kong

  • Experience developing racing rules and regulations, liaising with stewards and veterinarian officials to develop ERA Racing Rules. Race Duty Farrier 2007, 2008 World Cups
